The Great Hipster Decline

Sorry Hipsters, it seems your becoming extinct. Not as a culture, or anti-culture, or whatever the heck hipsters are.  Just the rest of societies willingness to listen to anything you say, pay for anything you want to do, or deal with you at all.   Specifically, the world of cycling sends a bicycle type back to its origins.  Your flagship transportation, the hipster fixie, is officially dying, single speed fixed gears will return to tracks and training as God intended.  .  I come to this epiphany from a simple social gauge...

Fixie the Hipsters

Actual clip from the Douche Bag Rag.
Bike Snob NYC recently revealed that Hipsters are beginning to abandon the Fixie bike for those with brakes and gears and stuff.  Further proof was published in the official Hipster news source at left.  Since reading this, it has dawned on me that there have been a lot more craigslist ads for Fixies, as well as a number of Fixie parts kits up for sale.  Great.  This means that they are going to invade and pervert some other angle of cycling culture.  Soon bearded socialist types will be buzzing about on BMX's or maybe they will adopt fat tire beach cruisers.  Either way they will meet resistance from the cultures that are already in place.   Sure, a few will sneak their way into the landscape of any of the cultures, like tumbleweeds in a western movie, but once shots are fired they will blow off screen just as fast as they entered.

Sock-It to Target

Perusing the news this morning, I came across the Target Store Sight crash headline.  At first I was dismissive since these things happen from hackers, or whatever unusual factor.  Then in the pop-up next to the headline summary was a picture that caught my attention.
A specially designed bicycle by Missoni for sale at target along with an entire collection of items is what caused the rush and crash of the site and clogging of the actual stores.
