I'm Propelled to Comment

Sometimes when riding a bike down a rather uphill road, (sometimes it seems uphill both ways) riding can become more tedious than fun.  Sure, some find that a challenge and attack it with zeal, but others find it an obstacle to being more active on their bike.  With electric assisted models becoming more prevalent in bike shops for just such a market, it is no surprise that others would seek to find their own way to profit from the trend.

What the ____! The "What a Concept" Post

While Riding around on the internet, I have seen some odd stuff.  As have we all.  One such thing is the Conference bike.  The concept is interesting enough, and I suppose it is a good thing for individuals like the blind or handicapped to get in on the cycling fun, anything else just looks odd.  Why is the main picture for this thing look like a Wiggles bikeathon??

The Wiggles... no wait even they would find this embarrassing.

Train like a Pro

In preparation for a ride... I have developed a series of performance enhancing methods of diet and training for those rides that require more than the average of personal exertion.  Careful scientific calculations have been studied and considered.  Research into the power packed training of pro athletes aided the design.  To start, one must begin the diet and training the day before.  A dinner of proper balance is needed to give the right amount of nutrition, and fuel for the coming ride.  I usually go with a burger, fries and shake.  Get the deluxe burger, since it has veggies to round off the food groups.  No ketchup is not a vegetable.  My next step is to pack in more calories for the burner by getting a double dip ice cream cone.  The flavor is not as important as the choice of cone.  Waffle.  No cake cone will do.

Cycling Fashion

This is a racer, now just add a rack on the back.
I found myself in bicycle shop looking in the clothing section.  Usually not my area of the store, but something caused a momentary lapse in my memory that somehow I was standing there looking into a rack of spandex like wedgey wear instead of where I last remember looking at the new Treks.  So I continued to stare at the rack wondering.  Why?  If you are some sort of competitive athlete looking to shave seconds off of a ride, sure, but why would a person that casually rides wear something like this.  I have seen them out on the roads and sidewalks about my travels.  At the college towns, a student putting pants on over a pair of these shorts by the bike rack before heading to class.  Do these uncomfortable and awkward garments serve some sort of mental function for those wearing them?  Does it make one feel authentic?
