W.A.C.K.E.D.-Tired of Tires

One of the greatest weaknesses in a bicycles design is the wheel.  One sharp bite from a stray shard of glass, thorn, or metal, and it can ruin your ride.  Even the more prepared that carry extra tubes or flat repair patches and such still lose the time spent.  Fragile spokes, complicated wheel building, and rims that even with a good tire can get wrecked at the edge of a water filled pothole, curb or tree root.  It is not uncommon to see a bike accident due to a tire, or wheel failure.  Hopefully those days soon will be over...

Freeze Until Stupid

While stumbling around the other day, I came across an older article on Treehugger.com.  The article takes on the way that colder climate communities manage resources after snowfall.  The argument of the author is that cities spend their budgets to benefit private interest by plowing roadways before sidewalks and bike paths.  Sometimes Stumbling can derail a good day into a irritated rant of disgust...

This Friday is going to be about not only a concept, but a practice that is being revisited and reinvigorated.  It seems foreign to some to see a bicycle used by anything more than a child, teenager or some health kook.  In American history bikes have served many functions in service, business and public protection.  Those uses are back on the rise and may even look familiar to you.

Presenting the first What A Concept K Edition for 2012.  Now, I am going to keep the K because it just sounds better than using L to represent 12 (the 12th letter in the alphabet i.e. 2012).  WACLED just does not have a ring to it.  So rather than my original idea of lettering the year, it will just stay that way as the founding year.  With that detail dealt with lets move on to the madness... of Friday the 13Th!!!
