The Ant Mobile

Our Current retrieval machine

The Ant Nerd has been very busy lately.  After mentioning that our current bike fetcher and delivery vehicle was not as effective as needed, the Nerd began on a mission to solve the problem.

Currently we use the my family mini van or borrow a family members truck to go off and gather our bike treasures.  The problem is, that the van is only able to load a maximum of 4 with nail biting tolerances, and given I have no crew with me.  That means the seats are folded down, and a web of bungees weaves through the back.  It can be harrowing at times.  For those times when I have advanced warning of a sizeable haul, we take the truck.  .

The truck is an old 90's toyota that runs like it was brand new.  Unfortunately the body and bumper do not suffer the same longevity.  No hitch or trailer is therefore an option since that was the specific part of the bumper that is gone.  It does however hold almost 10 bikes if some rubbing and bumping isn't minded.
Needless to say, it would be nice to have something more.  Something with the ability to haul, add a trailer, carry tools, and of course look a little cooler and professional at the same time. Here enters the Ant Nerd's latest projects.

He assured me that he did nothing illegal to get these pics, but I found a milk crate full of spray cans, and some stencils with the ANTMILL logo on them.  He also had bruises from canned goods, and there were complaints at the grocery store of "some idiot" spraying stuff on cars in the lot.  Either way, he submitted several great pics of some options for us to use for our official AntMill Hauler.  Or as he calls it, "the Ant Mobile".

As you can see by the pics, there are many ways to go.  From monster trucks, big box trucks, little hipster cube cars, and my favorites the vintage delivery van and flare side truck which I think is a Ford.  The delivery vehicle is the top pick.  An International Metro.  With a hitch, and a Airstream style trailer (like the one at left), this would be the ultimate set up for us.  The van would house tools, and seating, while the trailer would be the hauler.  It could double as a SAG vehicle for events without the trailer, or be used with it to haul our bikes, gear, and crew to club rides.  In style no less.

It would also be more telling of what it is we do.  No, not classic cars, but vintage bicycles.  Nostalgia by association. When our Ant Mobile is wearing our logo and name, it would be a very memorable form of advertising.  Now I just have to sit back and wait for my grant from the fed to get this all going.  I was assured that if I used the word solar more than 40 times in the application that I would be a shoe in.

Leave a comment if you know of such a vehicle available...that would be awesome.
~Ant

A special note, The semi/box truck would be for a future sponsored team. Much like the truck in Universal Soldier, the inside would sport an eerie blue light, tubes filled with glowing green stuff, and futuristic recliners for team members to chill before events.  It would also have a popcorn machine, smoothie machine, and the latest cutting edge performance enhancing taco bar.
