Sock-It to Target

Perusing the news this morning, I came across the Target Store Sight crash headline.  At first I was dismissive since these things happen from hackers, or whatever unusual factor.  Then in the pop-up next to the headline summary was a picture that caught my attention.
A specially designed bicycle by Missoni for sale at target along with an entire collection of items is what caused the rush and crash of the site and clogging of the actual stores.

Amazing.  A cozy for a bicycle.  The bike itself is of a classic dutch style, but with a covering of yarn over all the paint surfaces.  The collection is all ties within a similar color and pattern styles that mean you can not only get a super keen bike, but match your bags, outfit and accesories of all kinds to it.  Most of the outfits stir thoughts of the dirty 70's look.  I say dirty 70's look since most everything from the 70's style set has a grungy out of the hamper appearance to them.  To each their own.

What surprised me, is that there is a men's bike in the collection.  Really?  There is a demand for this? Are men now riding knitted bikes with matching earth toned herringbone messenger bags?  It's a fixie as well, where as at least the woman's model is a three speed.  Both companies are apparantly trying to cash in on wanna-be rehashed hippy douche bags that ride fixies and forget to shower.  Eww.

The next big trend I suppose is going to be a revisit to "boy band" 90's styles.  This just means some ugly bike designs to come.  Until then I will be holding out for the Missoni knit cardigan cozy so I can hide the rust and dents in my 90's ford escort.  Now thats practical.
