Thanks to a donation from a local Lutheran school we have now obtained our second schwinn breeze. It was found in a storage room in the older part of the building from its previous inhabitants. I have spent a number of hours volunteering there as the school is only 8 months old in a former public school building. It is a beautiful old building but it needs some tlc. We have been working towards starting a cycling club and having a charity ride to earn the school some funds, but as yet are unable to cement anything down. It is their first year so it has difficult to organize much beyond the day to day operations yet. Not to mention gaining funds to establish such an endeavor.
There are plenty of kids interested, and some will need a bike to ride so it falls to us to have some ready and rideable. That means more inventory to build more finished bikes. On average it has taken about 10 bikes to make one working bike without having to buy replacement parts. Exception being the tires of course.
Back to the breeze. Mid seventies by my first look, powder blue(sky blue), with its share of surface rust. Since we have another breeze, it may end up being a donor, but the proper parts may be in inventory to keep them both going. Brake and shifter cables need to be replaced, possibly handlebars (lots of pitting) and the paint needs some serious polishing. A rear fender is missing, but there are two in storage that should be a match, maybe even oem. No bent crank or chain guard so it is an excellent find.
